The easiest way to try a hello

Choose Text Chat, add an interest if you want one, and press Start. Once another person is available, you get a private one-to-one conversation. You can type at your own pace and use Next or Stop whenever you want to leave.

Text works without media permissions and is a useful option when you are on a limited connection, in a shared room or simply not in the mood for a camera.

A better first message than just a dot

Try a question with room for an opinion: which song deserves a second chance, what tiny inconvenience should be illegal, or which fictional world would be the worst place to work? A shared interest is an easy starting point, not a test the other person has to pass.

Give the person time to respond. If the conversation is not working, moving on is fine. Repeating the same message rapidly or pressuring someone for details is not.

Text privacy and moderation

Text goes through OddHello's server so it can be delivered, recovered after a brief interruption and checked for safety. Recent messages remain in a short-lived room buffer; submitted reports may preserve evidence for longer. This is not an end-to-end encrypted messenger.

Automated moderation can cover a message while it is checked and can make mistakes. Use Report for harmful behavior, including when the other person has just disconnected. Avoid names, addresses, passwords and other details you would not want a stranger to keep.
