Interest matching

A little common ground goes a long way.

Interests are optional. Add a topic, skip the biography, and give hello somewhere to go.

How matching uses your interests

Add a few topics before starting, such as music, games or cooking. OddHello first looks for someone in your chat mode who shares an interest. It does not build a recommendation profile or rank you by popularity.

Leave interests empty if you want the broadest available pool immediately. You still choose between text and video; adding an interest does not move you into another mode.

What happens in a quiet queue

A very specific topic can make a small queue feel even smaller. After about fifteen seconds, OddHello broadens the search so you can meet someone without a shared tag. That keeps an interest from becoming a permanent barrier to conversation.

Broadening cannot create another person. You might still wait if nobody eligible is available. A displayed OddHour is a scheduled chance to join together; it does not change your place in the queue or give anyone priority.

Use topics, not identifying details

Choose interests you would be comfortable saying to a stranger. Avoid phone numbers, usernames, exact school or work details, and anything you intend to keep private. A match may see the interest you share.

Product analytics does not collect the text of your interests. The service uses tags for the current matchmaking flow, and your next conversation can begin with different ones.

Make your next hello a little less mysterious
